The Challenge

These days, it is important for consumers to know that the products they buy are quality, affordable, but more importantly, humane and eco friendly.

Birkenstock, a company known for its comfort shoes(made exclusively from leather), in recent years, started launching shoes made of EVA material. These are made from a material ensuring the comfort of the wearer, while lowering the price and keeping them vegan – Effectively breaking in to a new market while keeping them with the signature style of Birkenstock shoes.

The Project

Birkenstock Eva is an e-commerce website that celebrates the new material and design of the vegan-friendly, Waterproof,  stylish, and affordable Slippers with The Original Birkenstock Footbed.

my role was to design a visual language for the  Brand,  Design the user interface for the brand's e-commerce.

Typography

I wanted the website to have a classic yet trendy vibe.
The combination of the serif + sans serif fonts is the best solution for that matter.

Product details

I researched how brands showcase the benefits of their products; the majority do it with icons & short explanation or close-ups on the material of the product.

in this project, I decided to pass the icons and emphasize the material and the shoe's structure, with  A supportive description compounded in with the shoe's shape.

Color & inspiration

The playful colors and shoe technology are unique to Birkenstock, a brand known for its natural muddy colors; while creating the color palette for this brand after researching other companies with color & material-based products. I chose to go with a bold, bright, and vivid palette that complements the shoes and makes you feel like a fashion candy store.

Keeping it neat

During the project, I experimented with using color in almost every possible section on the site. After many experiments, I concluded that it's best if the site's colorful richness is based mainly on the products, with little colorful touches highlighting certain areas.

Product details - product page

It is challenging to display details that will not bother the viewer's eye in smaller page space. So here I decided to go for a description next to the pictures.

Mobile Version

The mobile version of an e-commerce website should be fast, Frictionless & easy to buy with,
While designing the mobile version, I researched and discovered an increase in mobile shopping during the last years. I maintained powerful imagery and simplistic text that will be easy for the end-user to make the best decision and enjoy a pair of EVA Birkenstock.

Conclusions

My main goal in the design of e-commerce was to make this classic and monochromatic brand look more crisp and fresh when it's a default e-commerce site that is more relaxed and "natural-like."While working on this project, my biggest inspiration was summer that I love so much and the bright colors of this collection.
